Getting lost on the way was part of the experience for one or two of the participants in the Oldenburgia Trail Run on Sunday 5 July.

"There wasn't a single complaint," said organiser John van Onselen.

What's more, trail-running buff Andy Wesson rated the last 10km of the 30km route one of the best sections of trail he'd ever run.

Wesson's reviews for publications such as Trail magazine are highly regarded by enthusiasts.

The Pam Golding Properties-sponsored event attracted 97 entries over the three distances – 10km, 15km and 30km.

"A few got lost on the way," said Van Onselen.

Most found their way back on to the route pretty quickly though.

"Except for one – we sent a medic after her and she came back safe and sound, and laughing about her adventure."

Van Onselen said it was a more or less 50/50 ratio when it came to men and women.

The 10km attracted the most entreis. But only just, at around 40. The 15km only slightly less at 38. There were 17 entrants in the 30km event.
