Police officers of the Grahamstown Highway Patrol arrested three people on various charges at a road block on the N2 near Settlers Monument this week.

During the operation, conducted in partnership with local traffic police and provincial officers, a Honda Ballade travelling from Mthatha to Port Elizabeth was found to contain more than 10kg of dagga.

Spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said after searching the car and finding the dagga, police arrested two men aged 35 and 40.

"The dagga was estimated to be worth more than R12 000 in street value," said Govender.

She said the men were from Uitenhage.

In a second case, a woman was arrested for drunk driving.
