Grahamstown players at EP trials

The annual Meyer Sauerman rugby tournament will take place at Brandwag on Saturday 16 May.

The annual Meyer Sauerman rugby tournament will take place at Brandwag on Saturday 16 May.

The tournament features the final trials teams in the U18 and U16 age-groups, after which the teams for the interprovincials in July will be chosen.

The fixtures at Brandwag are: U16: 10am: C team v D team; 11.15: A team v B team; 12.30: selectors' choice U18: 10am: City Academy v Country Academy; 11.15: City v Country; 12.30: Merit A v Merit B.

The Grahamstown players features in the teams are (SAC – St Andrew's, KC – Kingswood, GC – Graeme): U18 – Merit A: Zaci Sandi (SAC), Merit B: Lutho Nomoyi (KC), Siba Mzanywa (KC), Anthony Dakin (SAC, captain).

Country A: Athi Halom (KC), Ross Ferguson (SAC), Malcolm Pringle (SAC), Jason Liesmore (KC), Mike van Breda (KC).

Country Academy: Grant Dixie (SAC), Xolile Mdlokovana (SAC), Luyolo Tshangwina (GC), Thembi Mangwana (KC).

Country reserves: Shannon Pieters (KC).

U16 – B team: Z Makani (SAC), C Johnson (SAC).

Reserves: B Manyaknyana (GC).

The dates for the junior interprovincials are: June 29-July 3: U13 Coca-Cola Craven Week, Rob Ferreira High School, White River.

June 29-July 2: LSEN Week, Drostdy Tech, Worcester.

July 6-9: Coca-Cola Academy Week, Isak Steyl Stadium, Vanderbijlpark.

July 6-9: U16 Coca-Cola Grant Khomo Week, Bridgton Sports Grounds, Oudtshoorn.

July 13-18: U18 Coca-Cola Craven Week, Paul Roos Gymnasium, Stellenbosch.
