In his first return to the ring after losing his SA title fight, the 'black tiger' destroyed Masixole Banzi in an Eastern Cape welterweight clash at the new multipurpose indoor centre .
It took the Grahamstown boxing kingpin one minute and 49 seconds to end the main bout in what promoter Welcome Ncita billed as a development tournament.
It took one heavy punch to the stomach to open up the challenge. Ndwayana took full advantage, with a cultivated right upper cut that sent the Mdantsane boxer twirling to the canvas.
Although pleased about the win, he admitted he was disappointed that the fight ended earlier than they anticipated.
“In my last fight I learnt not to rush and go for killer punches very early. I wanted to see how I would be able to control the fight going into the later rounds," Ndwayana said.
“I had a plan going into the fight and was always positive about winning. Now we're looking forward. I've tried to erase the disappointing loss of the SA title,” said Ndwayana.
Ncita said he was happy with Ndwayana's performance and said plans to get another crack at the SA title are well under way after the latest win.
“First of all, I am very happy with the support: the turnout is very good," he told Grocott's Mail at the tournament.
“If this continues, there will be more boxing coming to Grahamstown people.
“I will repeat this: we will have a champion from Grahamstown. [Ndwayana] is proving himself to be a very competitive boxer,” said Ncita.
