Yako promised during the ordinary council meeting in December that she would finalise the report by the end of February.
Last year the municipality was under pressure over the forensic report – then in its draft form.
The report alleges irregularities involving a number of high-ranking Makana Municipality officials.
Among the officials named in the report were Mayor Zamuxolo Peter and Council Speaker Rachel Madinda-Isaac.
The report also revealed details of alleged irregularities ranging from appointments in which correct protocols weren't followed, to irregular payments.
Grocott's Mail asked Yako when she would table the final Kabuso report. "Remember we said we need to finalise the report before the end of February," Yako said.
"I am hoping to persuade Council to allow me time to finalise it to meet the deadline. Kabuso is currently on site finalising the investigations," she said on Wednesday 11 February.
Sources confirmed on Monday 16 February that the auditors were currently interviewing staff named in the report.
Last year during an ANC press briefing, the Mayor cast the Report as part of a "trend" of investigations leading up to the 2016 elections.
Mandisi Planga, who was the acting municipal manager at the time, commissioned auditing firm Kabuso to conduct the independent forensic investigation following the disappearance of former municipal manager Pravine Naidoo's personnel file and the payment of Naidoo's legal fees.
The council recommended that Planga go ahead and commission the forensic audit.
