A Grahamstown man was killed after he lost control of a municipal water truck on the Salem road on Monday, 26 January.

The Makana Municipality employee, whose name is known to Grocott's Mail, was travelling towards the direction of Kenton, when he allegedly lost control of the municipal water tanker.

The driver was apparently travelling with four municipal employees in the truck when it crashed.

The driver passed away due to injuries he sustained during the crash and the other employees were rushed to hospital.
The accident happened just before midday, according to sources.

When Grocott's Mail arrived at the scene traffic officers, police officers and members of the fire department were directing traffic, while the heavy water tanker was being removed from the dense bushes by members of a local towing company.

The heavy vehicle which was leaking water as it was being pulled out of the bushy area, proved to be a challenge to pull out.

Grahamstown police could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
