David Jones achieved 96% for music and Tessa Campbell 94%.
David plays the violin, bass guitar, piano and drums and composes music.
According to mom Jackie Jones, an artist and art teacher in Grahamstown, he will enrol for a BSc, with the aim of studying Astrophysics.
"He can carry on with music while he's doing that," Jackie told Grocott's Mail.
He got three distinctions in the IEB matric exams.
Tessa, who plays the piano and the violin, has most recently played first violin for the South African National Youth Orchestra, and last year, toured with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.
She also toured Sweden and Germany with the MIAGI Youth and New Skool Orchestra to celebrate 20 years of freedom in South Africa, accompanied by struggle icons Barbara Hogan and Ahmed Kathrada.
Tessa has four distinctions. Dad Jonathan Campbell, a lecturer in the Rhodes University Law faculty, told Grocott's Mail she will enrol for a Bachelor of Music degree at UCT this year, with violin as her main instrument.
At the Diocesan School for Girls, Lisa-Joan Coltman achieved a distinction for Music.
At Graeme College, top academic achiever Russell Dixon scored 91% for Music in the Department of Education exams.
Fellow Graemian Lukhanyiso Damana, an active member of GC7 and other vocal ensembles, achieved the impressive mark of 97% for his practical exam. His overall Music mark was 76%.
