The Eastern Province U19 cricket side enjoyed three fine wins over Border U19 in various friendly encounters played this week.
EP hosted Border at St Andrew’s College as the teams played a declaration game and two T20 games. The games were played in preparation for the Coca-Cola U19 Khaya Majola Week which takes place in Pretoria from 17 to 21 December.

Grahamstown pupils who are part of the EP team are Andrew Mills (St Andrew’s College), Marco Lombard and Brad Haller (Kingswood College) and Odwa Xonxa (Graeme College).
The friendly matches took place on St Andrew’s Lower Field on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December.
Thursday’s declaration game saw EP win on the first innings.
Border batted first and made 147 all out. Haller took 3 wickets for 20 runs. In their first innings, EP made 188/6 declared with 12 overs left in the days play. Haller made 31 runs, Lombard 26 and Xonxa 16. As per National Cricket week rules, EP needed to get five wickets for an outright win. However, the Border batsmen stood firm as EP managed only one wicket as Border added 25 runs to their tally.
Friday saw the teams take part in two T20 matches.
In the mornings T20, Border batted first and made 142 for 5 wickets. Haller took 1/16. EP made 143/5 as Mills contributed 27 not out and Lombard 20. EP won by 5 wickets.
In the afternoon T20, EP batted first and made 134 all out. Lombard made 37, Haller made 30, Xonxa 7 and Mills 3. Border managed 122 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Haller took 1/20 as EP won by 12 runs.
