The final of the Pick n Pay Albany Night Bowls competition take place tonight, with matches starting at 6pm.

The event will be followed by the prize-giving ceremony. The competition was divided into three groups, split into playing on a Tuesday, Wednesday and a Thursday evening, with the round robin games ending last week. However, a number of Wednesday evening games were postponed to this week, but due to rain were postponed to last night.

Making tonight’s finals are Davies Plumbers, Knock Shop, Bad Boys and Brendon’s Refrigeration (Tuesday group), Market Square VW, Gary’s Refrigeration, Jaryd Smith and Mardon Plumbers (Thursday group).

The Wednesday finalists were only announced after last night's games, after going to print. According to Gwen Bartlett of the organising committee, teams 1 and 2 from each night will play against each other for the Pick n Pay Night Bowls Trophy.

Teams 3 and 4 will play each other based on their points for the Shady Lawns Plate Trophy.

The finals will start at 6pm in conjunction with a steak evening for all bowlers, friends, supporters and families.

Bartlett said steaks will be provided by Pick n Pay and sold at R50 for a 300gram steak and R60 for a 500gram steak which includes two salads and a roll.
