As former municipal manager Pravine Naidoo challenges his dismissal, Makana on Monday advertised three crucial Council positions.

As former municipal manager Pravine Naidoo challenges his dismissal, Makana on Monday advertised three crucial Council positions.

Some have been vacant for more than a year. The position of Municipal Manager, Chief Financial Officer and that of Human Resources Manager were advertised this week.

Currently there are people acting in the position of CFO and HR manager.

Last year Makana Municipality dismissed the former HR manager Pumla Qezu on grounds of misconduct while then-CFO Danny Sahibdeen resigned from his position.

Makana has not had a permanent CFO since Sahibdeen's resignation. One of the issues that the current administrator is meant to deal with is the appointment of a Municipal Manager since the former MM Pravine Naidoo was dismissed in March this year.

Grocott's Mail understands that Naidoo is currently appealing the decision to dismiss him as the municipality's accounting officer.

Makana is offering an annual remuneration of R926 720 – R1 191 500 for the three-year fixed term contract on the Municipal manager's position.

This is in line with the upper limits of annual total remuneration packages of Local Government payable to Municipal Managers.
