Three archers from Rhodes University Archery returned from the 9th SA National Indoor Archery Championships at the University of Pretoria with gold medals.

The gold winners were Kristan Barnard in the Recurve Women's division, Anton Pierre Swart in the Compound Men's Open division and Yashin Naidoo in the Recurve Cadet Men's.

Naidoo also broke the nine-arrow elimination record during his gold medal match, scoring an 88 out of a possible 90.

The championships incorporated the African Commonwealth Games, which means that the women and men's divisions also competed for African Commonwealth medals.

As such, Barnard's gold was for the national and the commonwealth games. Unfortunately, the junior divisions were not eligible to enter the commonwealth games.
