LFA To play, or not to play?

If predicted weather for the weekend is anything to go by, we are in for another weekend of no action from the Makana Local Football Association (LFA).

If predicted weather for the weekend is anything to go by, we are in for another weekend of no action from the Makana Local Football Association (LFA).

Weather SA has forecast light showers over the weekend with no sun expected to shine on Grahamstown.

There is no keeping up with the number of matches that have been called off due to bad weather as pitches were unplayable.

The LFA have grappled with massive setbacks in the fixtures list and the league has fallen far behind schedule.

Close to 10 matches should have been played so far, but some teams have only played one match ever since the league started in the beginning of October.

Even the slightest drops of rain is enough to cancel matches at this point, as grounds men are not willing to take the risk of further ruining the pitches.

With only three venues accommodating the LFA fixtures, it would be a disaster to have four teams playing on a wet pitch.

JD Dlepu and Fiddlers Green are the two pitches that seem to need great care in terms of maintenance, as the Rhodes pitch has not had any cancelled matches so far this season.

This would explain why home team Rhodes have set the pace early in the season; they have played all their scheduled home fixtures so far.
