Grahamstown's Eastern Cape welterweight boxing champion, Mziwoxolo Ndwayana, will be fighting for the South African Welterweight Belt in Joza at the end of November.
Grahamstown's Eastern Cape welterweight boxing champion, Mziwoxolo Ndwayana, will be fighting for the South African Welterweight Belt in Joza at the end of November.
Ndwayana, known as “Black Tiger”, will be fighting against the South African welterweight champion Tsiko Mulovhedzi, “Cruel Junior”.
Ndwayana told Grocotts Mail that he has been waiting a long time for this fight.
“This title fight is finally happening at my place of birth, and that is what makes me feel proud,” he said, adding that he expected it to be a "very challenging match".
His father and coach, Bulelani Ndwayana, said it is his wish that the champ leaves the belt here in Grahamstown.
“We have been waiting for this, we waited for too long and finally this is happening,” he said.
He confirmed that they have signed the match contract. At present, the boxers' records stand at: Ndwayana: 15 fights, 12 wins, 1 losses and 2 draws Mulovhedzi: 17 fights, 7 wins, 7 losses and 3 draws.
The match will be at Multipurpose Sport Center next to the Joza Indoor Sports Center on 22 November and it looks like Grahamstown is in with a fighting chance.
