Hardest hit is the BP garage in African Street, which has no unleaded petrol.
Manager of the service station Keith Joe says road tankers have not delivered petrol because rough seas have prevented the ship carrying the fuel from entering Port Elizabeth harbour.
While Keith says the problem is facing all petrol stations in the Eastern Cape, in Grahamstown it is currently only BP that has no unleaded petrol.
Keith said the situation would continue until the weather was clear enough for the ship enter the harbour.
