EP Kings U21 side will face Border U21 today, Friday 24 October, in an Absa U21 promotion/relegation match.

EP Kings finished top of the log in the B section after beating South Western Districts (SWD) 46-3 in Saturday’s B section final. Border finished bottom of the A section.

Former Grahamstown pupils Tyler Paul, Ntsikelelo Mlotya, Jason Baggott (St Andrew’s) and Tyrone Rankin (Graeme) were part of the EP U21 squad. If the side beat Border in today’s fixture, they will then be promoted to the A section for the 2015 season.

The first half of the final, between EP Kings and SWD, was physical as both teams tried to make their presence felt. EP Kings made better use of their try-scoring chances as they ran good lines on attack and backed this up with a solid defensive effort, which pushed them into a 20-3 half time lead.

The Port Elizabeth side built on this in the second half as they ran in another four tries. SWD tried hard to add to their score, but mistakes kept them from achieving this.

Today’s promotion/relegation game takes place at the BCM Stadium in East London at 6pm.
