Makana LFA was in full swing last weekend, 11 and 12 October, with a full round of fixtures taking place after weather forced cancellation of league matches two weeks in a row.

Only a handful of matches had taken place in the Makana LFA, scheduled to start in the last week of September, and the league had fallen behind schedule.

At the end of match day, a whopping 41 goals were scored in eight fixtures. Green Leaves were the biggest winners, thumping Young Killers 7-1 in a rather one-sided affair.

It was a sweet return for the league’s newcomers as they went down 3-2 to Rhodes in their opening round of the league.

Green Leaves seemed a far better side when going forward, and they sent a strong message to the other contenders that the club is not in the league to make up numbers.

After a perfect start to the season, Rhodes was humbled 4-2 by Makana Pillars in their first away match of the campaign.

After three rounds of matches, Jacaranda Aces sit top of the standings with seven points, one ahead of Rhodes, after walloping Golden Stars 5-2 for their second win in three matches.

The other matches of the weekend saw Early Birds play to a one all draw with Linge Stars. Newtown City, who were relegated from the SAB league last season, were thumped 4-1 by Love and Peace.

Nothing could separate Shining Stars and Cameroon as the two sides played to a pulsating three all draw.

Callies prevailed 3-2 against Italy while Pioneers emerged as 2-0 victors over Santos.
