Four Rhodes student societies joined forces on Saturday 4 October to raise awareness about people's Constitutional rights.
Legal Activism led Constitutional Week, recently celebrated at Rhodes University. The Law Society, Golden Key International Honours Society and Lesotho Society all helped make the day a hit.
The day began with a parade, where participants held banners and posters displaying items from the Bill of Rights.
Loud music and the Rhodes University mascot, who also joined in the parade, made the group hard to miss. At the Rhodes University Astroturf, the students met up with pupils from Kuyasa Special School.
After a few ice-breaker games, Rhodes students took turns to explain and give context to the different rights. After covering the important legal terms, the fun activities of the day commenced.
These included an egg-and-spoon race, a two-legged race and very well-received performance by the Graeme College Marimba Band.
After a filling lunch of pizza and hot dogs, the Rhodes students, Kuyasa pupils, Marimba Band and the Rhodes Mascot all joined in an impromptu soccer game.
