Amatola Water have confirmed that there is a major pipe breakdown at the James Kleynhans water works on the east side of town. Phumlani location is the hardest hit. This breakdown was found at the outlet of Botha's Hill reservoir.

Vandalism is suspected to behind the problem. Amatola reports that technicians have been deployed to handle the repairs of the 450mm diameter pipe.

They further stated that the high lying areas that are supplied by Botha’s Hill will be affected until further notice.

Miles street and the Kingswood area, which are also supplied by the Botha's Hill reservoir, are not affected as their water supply has been switched over to the Waainek system.
