Makana's DA caucus has again submitted three motions to the acting municipal manager Themba Mnguni.

Makana's DA caucus has again submitted three motions to the acting municipal manager Themba Mnguni.

Two are motions of no confidence against the Mayor and Council Speaker, demanding that they be removed from office.

The third is that the confidential Kabuso Report, which details maladministration in the municipality, be urgently tabled in a Special or Ordinary Council Meeting.

"As this report has already been disseminated to parties outside of the Council, without the Councillors/Council having view of the same, and that this report, it has been reported, has already been in the possession of the Municipality for two months, we urge that a Council meeting should be called urgently, so that the Councillors can carry out their mandated oversight role," the motion read.

The DA submitted motions of no confidence regarding Peter and Madinda-Isaac last year, but were outvoted by ANC councillors.

The DA's attempt to oust the Mayor through a secret ballot failed after it was rejected by all 20 ANC councillors in a special council meeting.

Tempers flared at the Makana municipality chambers on 6 November as DA councillors staged a walk-out before the meeting closed.

Last year's motion against the Speaker also sparked debate, as ANC chief whip Julia Wells raised a counter-motion.

She said the no-confidence motion on the Speaker was based only on rumours and that there was no supporting documentation.

In a move to get Council to debate the Kabuso forensic report DA chief Whip Brian Fargher said in his motion the report had already been disseminated outside Council.

Municipal spokesperson Yoliswa Ramokolo said the date of the next Council meeting had not been decided yet.
