Future Stars have taken the prize, having won the Makana Local Football Association (LFA) Top 8 Knockout competition.

They were crowned first division champions after an impressive 4-1 victory against Shining Stars in the final on Saturday 13 September.

Future Stars grabbed the lead through Kamva Toxi's penalty after a foul by the Shining Stars goalie. From there on, they controlled the pace of the game in search of a second goal but Shining Stars was stubborn in their defence.

The sides went into the break with Future leading by a goal to nil. The second half saw the tables turn as Shining Stars forced waves of attack in search of an equalising goal.

They were rewarded with a well converted goal early in the second half. Shining Stars looked the more lively side in the second half as Future Stars were forced on the back foot for most of the remainder of the game, but poor finishing by Shining Stars let them down on a couple of occasions.

It was a counter-attack effort by Future Stars that changed the game as they caught the Shinig Stars defence napping with two quick goals by Melumzi Maku and Luxolo Bacela.

From that moment it seemed as if Shining Stars had given up on the game as the clock kept ticking away.

Towards the end of the game, Future Stars would find the back of the net again through an attack which culminated with Athenkosi Jezi blasting the ball past the keeper.

This was Future Stars' second Top 8 match, having enjoyed a walkover in the first round and winning via a 4-3 penalty shootout after a two all draw with Rhodes University soccer side.
