Colonel Vivienne Thembani, former Despatch station commander with a reputation for a zero tolerance approach to crime, has been appointed to head the Grahamstown Police Station, spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said Thursday 11 September.

Colonel Vivienne Thembani, former Despatch station commander with a reputation for a zero tolerance approach to crime, has been appointed to head the Grahamstown Police Station, spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said Thursday 11 September.

Thembani was officially appointed as the station commander on 1 September, Govender said in an emailed statement to Grocott's Mail.

Thembani brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on crime fighting to Grahamstown, Govender said.

"She is a very disciplined, dedicated and motivated officer and adopts a zero tolerance approach to both crime and ill-discipline," Govender said.

"She aims to ensure that the community of Grahamstown feel safe."

According to Govender, service delivery to the community is one of Thembani's priorities.

"She is looking forward to working with the community of Grahamstown and is urging the community to work closely with the SAPS and also provide us with information on criminals and criminal activities," Govender said.
