An Extension 8 man accused of attacking a teenager in his Joza home in July appeared yesterday in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police said an intruder entered the teenage boy's home at night on 20 July and stabbed him. The teenager was sent to Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth.

Angry community members in Extension 8 threatened to burn down the house of the man accused, before police confirmed that he had been arrested and was in custody.

The man initially abandoned his bail application.

The case was postponed to 12 September for a regional court date. He remains in custody.
