Luckily, there’s now an app to help translate almost anything to gangster slang so everyone can get in on the act by simple typing anything on Gizoogle, no relations to Google.
The app was inspired by American rapper Snoop Dogg’s “doggy Fizzle” talk for satirical purposes. The app literally translates almost anything from English to gangster slang.
For Mzansi gangsters, though, it’s still safe to chinwag with their mates with tsotsitaal, Mzansi’s kasi lingo. The app only supports English now, though it might not be long before we find people translating words like kasi ringas. In the near future, we may have amaOfi talking about “ukuzishaya ngeskholana” nange “jumpas”.
Warning: the site is accessible, and can translate obscene language that may offend sensitive users. But anyone who understands what slanging is about will feel less offended by what they might see or how certain things are labelled in gang talk.
Now for those who feel overwhelmed by “iringas yasekasi”, a few clicks makes it easy to familiarise yourself with the terms. And it does make life simpler if you're the type of person who constantly hangs around kasi boys.
