The St Andrew’s College 1st rugby side won the first of their three matches in Argentina, against the Old Georgian Club, a side consisting of old boys from St George’s College.

Rugby coach Alan Miles said the first game was "an extremely physical encounter.

"The College side can be pleased with the manner in which they were able to close out what was a very difficult and at times frustrating match".

St Andrew's tries were scored by Courtney Archer, Grant Dixie, Hugo de la Fergus, Matt Andrews, Tom Lane and Captain Robert Ball while Brendan Owen succeeded with four penalties.

The St Andrew's Thistles team took part in the St George's College festival in Buenos Aires on Saturday 9 August. They played four half-hour matches against the hosts, St George’s College, Belgrado Day School, Florida High School and St Alban’s College, Argentina.

The Thistles won all their matches, finishing with a 22-21 victory over St Alban’s in the final match of the day to win the title in the open division.
