Two firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered after the Redwood Spur in High Street, Grahamstown was robbed at closing time on Monday night.

Three men entered the premises, held staff at gunpoint and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Hi-Tec Armed response officer on duty was summoned and he alerted guards in close proximity as well as the control room, giving them a good description of the getaway vehicle.

The control room in turn radioed all Hi-Tec armed response officers and response vehicles around town.

The Hi-Tec Security officer based in Joza township spotted the getaway vehicle speeding past him and gave chase.

Three suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled. They are still at large, although there is a good description of each one of them, and strong leads are being followed up by the SA Police Service.

The Hi-Tec Armed response officer in Joza managed to seize two firearms and the cash that was stolen from the Spur.

It is believed the vehicle they were using was stolen.
