Disciplinary hearings for Makana Municipality's suspended strategic manager Mncedisi Boma will start on Monday 14 April.

Disciplinary proceedings were instituted following allegations of misconduct against him and he was suspended in January.

Speaking to Grocott's Mail on Thursday, Boma confirmed that he would be attending a disciplinary hearing, but refused to comment on the matter.

"No, I don't have a comment," Boma said. "I cannot be commenting on it because I don't know what is going to happen. I will be able to comment after the hearing."

Also speaking to Grocott's Mail on Thursday, Mayor Zamuxolo Peter was unable to confirm who would be conducting the hearing against Boma.

Asked whether the new acting municipal manager, Themba Mnguni, would be taking charge of proceedings, Peter said, "I can't comment. I really don't know."

A criminal case was opened against Boma earlier this year after a file containing critical information about former municipal manager Pravine Naidoo went missing from the municipal offices.

When asked about the file in January, Boma denied having it in his possession.

Later police confirmed that a case of theft had been opened against him.
