The Puku isiXhosa Children's Story Festival invited members of the Grahamstown community to the launch of various isiXhosa books for children at the Fingo Library on Saturday 22 February, with a specific focus on reading in your mother tongue.

The Puku isiXhosa Children's Story Festival invited members of the Grahamstown community to the launch of various isiXhosa books for children at the Fingo Library on Saturday 22 February, with a specific focus on reading in your mother tongue.

 Contrary to what people think, if you are well-grounded in your  mother tongue you learn English more easily and the skills  around language and also the issues of identity are closely tied. 

 Reading in your mother tongue is the first chapter in your book of  learning. By introducing learners to isiXhosa books, The Puku  story festival has set the tone for a good read.
