If someone gives you a hug as you take your place in the human chain today, don't be alarmed. Among the thousands expected to participate in today's event are members of “Life’s Magic Green Skin Love Initiative”.

The initiative was launched in Cape Town and Grahamstown last Friday, 14 February 2014, which was also celebrated by millions as Valentine’s Day.

About 1000 children from four schools in Grahamstown, including Good Shepherd pupils (above) were involved in Awarenet's 'Spread the Love' campign on Valentine's Day.

Awarenet staff painted red and green hearts on the cheeks of the children. The pupils made posters with the words 'Spread The Love' and 'FREE Hugs', while shouting 'Spread the love', singing or dancing. The Grade 9 Awarenet learners from CM Vellem helped paint hearts on the younger children.

Terri-Lynn Penney, Antje Hering and Rieke Heitmueller first visited Good Shepherd School, with help from the Rhodes University student, Nosie Mahlaba Ngqwala.

To complete the project, Awarenet intends asking their students to write a blog about the Project.

It unfolded hand-in-hand with “Life’s Magic”, a Community Lifestyle Network and their collaboration partner “Awarenet” project, co-ordinated by Candice-Lee Sittig (director of Life’s Magic), Penney (head community co-ordinator at Awarenet) and their "Love crew".

This is an on-going campaign that will be expanding through the year into various parts of the country and hopefully around the globe, involving students, entrepreneurs, organisations and general public citizens.

Free hugs are given, green hearts are painted on hands, arms or face and encouragement is given for all participants to hug other participants and share the love.

"We want to be a part of the solution; inuplifting true human values. We are asking everyone to join in a powerful mission of global peace and a vision of a one-World family," said Sittig. "We are striving for religious, political, race and gender harmony, and aim at respecting and celebrating one another’s uniqueness and differences.

"It is so amazing what an incredible impact it can have, when you go back to basics," she said.

"Our message is to encourage everyone to adopt a mind-set of a universal skin colour – green skin – which is also representative of mother Earth, that sustains us and gives us life. No matter who you are, how old you are, where you come from, everyone appreciates love, compassion, respect and understanding," said Sittig.

“Life’s Magic Green Skin Love Initiative” intends initiating the Human Chain Project in Cape Town in the coming months of 2014.

Sittig invites readers to visit their website www.lifesmagic.co.za and LIKE their Facebook page www.facebook.com/live.lifes.magic. "In this way you can keep up to date with all our activities and see how we can collaborate with you in making “Life’s Magic” a limitless platform of opportunities for communities everywhere. Viva Love!" she said.
