Two weeks ago, Leon Xamkwana, a member of the Kingswood College Maintenance Team, was on the receiving end of a wonderful surprise.

While on a job, Leon received a call from Richard MacNally, the Maintenance Manager, summoning him to the workshop area for a special delivery – a piano.

During the 2013 National Arts Festival, Ian Farrington, a blind piano tuner from Kwa-Zulu Natal had loaned his piano to the Kingswood Chapel for a festival performance by the Amsterdam Ensemble.

Leon was one of those who helped carry the piano into the Chapel.

Leon, a self-taught pianist who plays the keyboard in his church and for the Saint City Messengers, then gave Ian a surprise performance.

Impressed with Leon's playing, Ian said he would find Leon a piano and bring it to Grahamstown for him.

Ian arrived with the piano earlier this year and together with Leon he delivered it to his home.
