The man, in his mid-20s, was admitted to Settlers’ Hospital with gunshot wounds to an arm and a leg. He is a suspect in an armed robbery in New Brighton on the evening of Wednesday 22 January. He was admitted with injuries to an arm and a leg.

Five men between the ages of 18 and 22 were arrested the same evening on charges of armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The gunshot victim was arrested and is currently under police guard in Settlers’ Hospital, according to Grahamstown police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender.

She reports that he is in a stable condition.

He faces charges of armed robbery.
