Transit Camp resident Noluthando Khahlana called Grocott's Mail to show us the nauseating sewage drain that been overflowing outside her house for several months.
The stench is so overpowering that taxi drivers have dubbed her area a 'soreyijini stop' ('sewage stop').
Khahlana says she reported the blockage to the municipality "many times" without response.
"We spent our Christmas in this mess – my two small children are always having stomach illnesses," she said.
Another resident Zoleka Ngqobololo, said her family was also "always sick" due to sewage leaks in the area.
