Graeme and St Andrew’s unbeaten

Graeme and St Andrew's College remained unbeaten at the Grahamstown Schools' Cricket Festival, hosted in Grahamstown from Thursday 9 January.

Graeme and St Andrew's College remained unbeaten at the Grahamstown Schools' Cricket Festival, hosted in Grahamstown from Thursday 9 January.

The festival saw 16 teams from across the country taking part, with most from the Eastern Cape, as well as Barker College from Sydney Australia.

A total of 16 teams took part in the 14th annual festival.

Most of the day one matches were drawn due to being called off for bad weather.

Graeme drew to Dale on day one, with Kingswood and St Andrew's drawing with Barker College and Menlopark respectively.

Graeme managed to pick up the pace in the final two games, beating Trinity House by 33 runs on day two and beating Cambridge by 6 wickets on the final day.

St Andrew's won their second game against Hudson Park by 3 wickets. The final day saw them tie the game with St Alban's.

In that game, St Alban’s batted first and declared on 223/8, with Steven Green and Brendan Owen each taking three wickets.

St Andrew’s finished on the same score to end the day on 223/9, with the match resulting in a tie.

Timothy Leppan made 47 and Camran Macfarlane made 32 not out.

Kingswood draw their second match with St Albans and then lost to St Andrew's School (Bloemfontein) by 5 wickets.

In the TrinityHouse vs Graeme College game, Graeme made 202 all out.

Odwa Xonxa made 39 and Russell Dixon 38.

TrinityHouse were bowled out for 169 with Luyolo Tshongweni the pick of the Graeme bowlers, taking five wickets for 65 runs as Graeme won by 33 runs.

The Albany side drew to Cambridge on day one, before losing to Muir College by four wickets on day two.

On the third day they lost to Barker College by 172 runs.

In Albany Rural's first game against Cambridge, Xolani Tokwe made 74 to the 185 total, before the match was washed out.

In their second match against Muir College, the Albany side were bowled out for 123.

Muir made 127/6 with Luxolo Mtutu taking 3/12.

In their final game, Albany met Barker College, withBarker batting first and making 306 all out, Mtutu this time taking 4/51.

In their time at the crease, Albany were bowled out for 134 with Luxolo Funde making 38 runs as Barker College won by 172 runs.
