JD Dlepu Stadium and Fiddlers Green were jam-packed with soccer action over the past weekend, as the Makana Local Football Association league continued from the festive season break.

Most teams played two matches over the past weekend.

XI Attackers kept their lead at the top of the log, with 16 points after six matches.

On Saturday Attackers drew 1-1 to Makana Pillars who are placed 5th on the log.

Attackers then beat 11th placed Cameroon on Sunday, stretching their log lead.

Saturday was also Attackers' first draw of the 2013/2014 season.

Phoenix Pioneers are second on the log. However, they have only played four matches, two games behind Attackers.

Pioneers made their intentions clear this weekend, winning both their games in style. The first, against Jacaranda Aces, Pioneers won 3-1. On Sunday they whipped New Seekers 8-1.

The league takes a break this weekend due to a referees workshop on Saturday and Sunday at Rhodes University.
