Former Mary Waters High School pupil Rosco Speckman has been called up to play for the Springbok Sevens.

He'll also be in action near his old stomping ground this weekend in the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens Tournament in Port Elizabeth.

Speckman helped the SA Sevens Academy team defend their Dubai Invitational title for the fourth time in a row last month.

They arrived in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday 3 December and joined the squad for their first training session late in the afternoon.

Earlier this week, Springbok Sevens captain Kyle Brown joined the other 15 captains at the International Captains Signing Session at Green Acres Shopping Centre.

The Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens marks round three of the HSBC Sevens World Series that consists of nine tournaments worldwide.

South Africa is one of 16 countries participating in this international showpiece.

The iconic Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will host the event for a third successive year after George was home to the hugely popular tournament for a decade.

The tournament kicks off tomorrow at 11am and the last match of the day is scheduled for 7.58pm.

The quarter-finals, semis and all finals will take place on Sunday 8 December, with action getting underway from 11.11am. The Cup Final is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.

Saturday's action starts at 9am with the Aggreko Tag Rugby Tournament on the B and C fields of the Stadium.

Gates for the Sevens rugby open at 10am.

Sunday's activities start at 9am with the Tag Rugby U13 National Tournament (B and C fields).
