More than 320 children enjoyed a day of intercreche activities at the 6 SAI military base last Friday 25 October.

The military prepared a funfilled line-up of different sports and activities to entertain children from 10 different schools in Makana Municipality. They were also treated to a variety of military, medical and fire exhibitions, a ride on a military vehicle, and even a mock attack display.

The Grahamstown military organized the event as part of an outreach project to connect with the Grahamstown community. Seeing it as their social responsiblity, organizers Captain Cornelia Griessel and Major Werner Klokow explained that events like this are very important in order to foster an relationship between the army and the community.

“People of Grahamstown can see what is going on at the military base and understand that soldiers are not only trained for war, but they are here also to help the community," explained Klokow.
