The botanical gardens were filled with the sound of laughter and enjoyment as people from all around the Eastern Cape came together at the fifth annual Grahamstown Flower Festival from 5 to 6 October.
Artists, crafters, gardeners and other stallholders displayed wares while children shrieked on a couple of brightly coloured jumping castles and their parents attended workshops and lectures about the ins and outs of gardening.
In the background, three school bands including the St Andrew's College Pipe Band gave a rousing lunchtime performance on Saturday while visitors sampled the selection of delicious food for sale. Some Grahamstown residents even opened their garden gates to visitors in order to show off their hard work and green thumbs.
Grocott's Mail reporters visited the flower show on Saturday to speak to some stall holders and found some hidden gems.
