Guests at the 2013 Picture Pot charity event were spoilt for choice with 260 artworks on show.

Best of all, everyone at the event held at the Long Table hall on Wednesday 2 October got to take home one of the pieces for a mere R25.

One of the organisers, Cameron Cordell, said 130 artworks were sold at the third annual Picture Pot fundraiser.

The event's concept is simple: members of the public can donate artwork – from drawings and photos to sculptures and textiles – and the proceeds from selling these go to charity.

The R25 entrance fee guarantees that guests can take their favourite exhibited piece, sourced from around 200 local creatives, home the next day.

The charity in question is the Masincedane Soup Kitchen Society, a Rhodes University student organisation.

Masincedane runs a soup kitchen, two community gardens and children's workshops in Xolani township.
