Democratic Alliance councillor Lena May stood in silent protest against the most recent bout of water outages in front of the City Hall last Friday 27 September.

The ward 4 councillor and other protesters covered their mouths with tape and stood quietly in front of the municipal building for more than two hours on Friday to signal their frustration about recurring water outages.

May later criticised the municipality for not warning residents about the outages. She said there had always been a water problem in her ward.

Areas affected by last week's outages, said May, included the army base, Cradock Heights, Rhodes University and Scott's Farm.
