Barely returned from a major bodybuilding show in Gauteng, policeman lieutenant-colonel Johan Botha is now off to Cape Town for the South African championships.

Now representing more than just the Grahamstown men in blue and his local club, Botha will be competing for the Eastern Province.
"I'm looking forward to it and I hope to bring yet another award to Grahamstown," Botha said earlier this week.

The national champs take place this weekend.

Just a week ago Botha came fourth in the men's over-90kg category in the World Physique Federation body building show at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg.

He and colleague constable Lesley Sauls were two of about 130 contestants from across South Africa.

They went toe-to-toe with international competitors from established groups like the International Federation of Body Building and the World Physique Federation.

"It was a huge honour for me to represent the South African Police Service," Botha said.

He thanked his station commander, Brigadier Morgan Govender, for his support.
