In a remarkable turn of events the levels of dams supplying water to Grahamstown have suddenly changed after being at precisely the same levels for 23 months.

As we regularly check the Makana Municipality website to find out how our dams are doing, we were aware that from September 2011 until this month the dam levels had been unchanged.

This week however, we note that they have changed considerably.

According to the Makana website the levels of our dams are as follows:

  • Jameson 7.25%
  • Milner 88.74%
  • Howieson's Poort 45.95%
  • Settlers 92.94%
