A contestant on the third season of the nation’s manliest-man reality TV competition, the East London vehicle theft unit constable stands to win R500 000 cash, a new double cab Hilux Bakkie and a quad bike.
Magaya has been battling it out against 15 other modern-day Hercules types since the show began at the end of July. The 35-year-old policeman from East London, the only contestant from the Eastern Cape, is competing against a strong and agile mix of men from all over the country.
Contestants, whose occupations range from engineer to film-maker, face demanding challenges that test them not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.
Magaya, who enjoys playing tennis in his free time, said in an interview with the Daily Dispatch that he’s determined to push himself to the limit.
“I am a policeman and often people think that police are fat and lazy, but I want to show people that there is more to us than just that.”
The show airs in 13 weekly segments, showing contestants competing in various exotic locations inside and outside South Africa. Catch Magaya on Bar-One Manhunt every Tuesday night at 9pm on SABC 1. The season finale will be on 22 October.
