The municipality has urged residents to report water leaks and faulty water meters ahead of a water-supply audit in Makana.

In a notice issued this week, the municipality also asked residents to give inspectors access to their properties to inspect water meters, and supply a recent water utilities bill.

The municipality says the audit, to be carried out in coming months, is part of its efforts to curb water loss and improve its water management.

It has appointed contractors Re-Solve Consulting to inspect the water supply network throughout Makana, checking water meters, network valves and fire hydrants.

The inspectors will temporarily shut down the water supply to each consumer in order to check the meters.

"Please note that photographs will need to be taken to verify meter readings, meter locality and any problems and/or abnormalities relating to water supply to each property," the notice says.

It also explains that the Re-Solve teams will be carrying ID Cards and wearing brightly coloured branded safety vests and caps.

To report faulty meters and leaks, visit the municipality's water services at the infrastructure offices next-door to the city hall, email info@re-solve.co.za or call 046 603 6063 / 046 603 6136 during office hours.
