Godfrey Johnson and Emile Minnie are joyful and exuberant performers, in person and on stage.

Their performance requires only one piano, a clarinet, the dynamic voices of Minnie and Johnson and a host of wigs, masks – and a tutu for good measure.

Minnie and Johnson thoroughly enjoy what they do: entertain.

With frequent pauses, audience engagement, laughter, jokes and impromptu songs, Minnie & Johnson, presented by KBT Productions is a glorious introduction to musical theatre.

Completely unashamedly camp at times, this duo performs a selection of 80s, Broadway and modern stars music, their pieces ranging from Juliette Greco’s Sous Le Ciel De Paris to Born This Way by Lady Gaga.

Their talents include piano and clarinet, both men boasting deep bass vocal capabilities. Self-aware and comfortable in their skins, the pair are self-indulgent on stage.

Minnie said that if they could, they would go on forever. “Just tell us when we must stop!” he called out to the sound team at one point in the show.

Kalk Bay Theatre, the sponsors of their performance, are also the origin of seven other shows at the festival, including Johnson’s performance of the legendary Jacques Brel in Shadows of Brel

Shadows of Brel is on Sunday at 6.30pm, Sunday at 11am, Monday at 9.30pm, Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday at 3pm, Thursday at 5pm, Friday at midday and next Sunday at 11am and 3pm. All performances will be in the Beethoven Room.

Minnie & Johnson will also play throughout the Festival, Saturday at 8.30pm, Monday at 6pm, Tuesday at 3pm, Wednesday at 7pm, Thursday at 1pm and 9pm and Friday at 11am.
