Ten Grahamstown school rugby players have made it onto the 22-player U18 EP Country Districts Craven Week team after a gruelling season of matches and trials.
Ten Grahamstown school rugby players have made it onto the 22-player U18 EP Country Districts Craven Week team after a gruelling season of matches and trials.
Making the selection are Graemians Gordon-Wayne Plaatjies, Siphosethu Pinini and Xhanti Sandi; and Thomas Filmer, Tyler Paul, Sintu Manjezi (captain), Stuart Stopforth, Jason Baggot, Robert Ball and David Murray of St Andrew’s College.
The prestigious team was carefully chosen after the Meyer Sauerman Tournament (EP trials) hosted at Union High School in Graaff-Reinet last weekend.
The EP Platteland side comprises pupils from country schools in the Eastern Province, while the U18 EP Craven Week squad is made up of players from the Port Elizabeth area.
The two sides will both take part in this year’s Coco-Cola U18 Craven Week to be held in Polokwane from 7-13 July. The EP Country Districts’ first match will be on 9 July against the Leopards (Potchefstroom area).
Managing the EP Country Districts team is George Lamani from Nathaniel Nyaluza Secondary, while Allan Miles from St Andrew’s is the head coach.
Making the U18 EP Platteland Academy Team from Grahamstown are Siyakubonga Nzuzo, Ethan September, Craig Williams and Siyasanga Mthathi (Graeme College); Adrian Parson (St Andrew’s) and Davron Cameron (Kingswood College).
The Academy Week takes place in KwaZulu-Natal from 29 June-4 July. Another Graemian, Josiah Twum-Boafo, will play for the EP U16 team during Grant Khomo Week in Vanderbijlpark, starting 1 July.
