With clear skies forecast for this weekend, it looks like the first of this year’s local school rugby derby matches are going to be even more of a pleasure to watch tomorrow when Graeme College hosts St Andrew’s.

Matches start at 9am with the U14As and various rugby matches continue throughout the day until the main FNB Classic Clash match between the first teams, filmed every year by SuperSport.

The two rugby sides have enjoyed great successes on the field recently. At the Union High School Easter Festival in Graaff-Reinet Graeme had nearly flawless victories in their two matches.

When St Andrew’s travelled to Johannesburg, also over Easter, they won all three of their games. Graeme will be looking to settle the score after losing last year’s Classic Clash match in the last moments of the game.

Apart from tomorrow’s rugby, a number of hockey and netball matches between the colleges’ sister schools, Victoria Girls’ High and the Diocesan School For Girls, take place.

The netball action gets underway from 3.15pm today (Friday) with the last match of the day at 4.15pm.

The firsts play at 12 noon on Saturday.

The hockey games start at 4pm today with a match between Graeme and St Andrew’s.

The girls then take over the Astro with matches until 7.30pm when the firsts play.
