Released last Saturday on YouTube, the video went viral just like Psy’s previous single Gangnam Style, which to this day holds the record as the most-viewed video of all time with over 1.5 billion views.
After only 24 hours on YouTube Gentleman already had over 20 million views. “51 million view's in 40 hours!! My God~!!!” Psy tweeted.
While the video does include Psy’s quirky and rather inventive dance moves, people have commented that it still lacks something, that signature step, like the horse-riding moves popularised in Gangnam Style.
The new video features Psy playing pranks on people, especially women, until he meets his match – a woman who plays pranks on men.
Of course it also features the dancers seen in Gangnam Style.
The new single may not be everybody’s cup of tea but it has managed to reach over 117 million views in just a few days with comments flying in literally every second.
It remains to be seen if Gentleman will beat its predecessor to make Psy the man with the two most-watched videos in history.
