Mfuzo Boxing Club will host the "Men to Men" boxing tournament at the Indoor Sport Centre in Extension 6 on tomorrow.

Participating clubs include Nkuthazo, Masibambane, Mayfield and Mfuzo Boxing Camp, incorporating Phakamisa, Ndlambe and Glenmore.

According to Given Faxi, Mfuzo's boxing coach, the tournament will be prepare boxers for the Mayoral Cup and the Cacadu District boxing trials.

He said that the aim of the tournament was to showcase local boxing in Grahamstown.

"Our boxers are ready to perform their magic and show the Grahamstown community how great the local are," he said. Faxi said there was space for hawkers who wanted to sell fruit.

Talking about the contribution of boxing to the Grahamstown community, Faxi said it offered teenagers and the unemployed something worthwhile.

"Even the parents of our boxers are happy to see their children bringing medals home, hoping that they will bring a belt one day," Faxi said.

He urged the community to support the boxing tournament, which is scheduled to start at 10am. Admission will be R10 for adults and R5 for children.
