Grahamstown media activists Jane Duncan and Thembani Onceya are among 11 Right2Know members serving on a national working group to oppose the Protection of Information Bill.

The Campaign held its national summit in Durban last weekend. National coordinater, Mark Weinberg said if President Jacob Zuma, signs into law the bill, slated by media practitioners and freedom of expression activists, Right2Know is committed to challenging it in the Constitutional Court.

National working group member, Alison Tilley, said they had already briefed lawyers and begun to prepare their case, to ensure they can act swiftly when the need arises.

The summit resolved that Right2Know will take legal actions against the state, including the minister of state security, the State Security Agency, and any other respondents regarding the constitutionality of the Protection of State Information Bill.
