April marks the first-year anniversary of the Revelations Coffee Shop. A part of Grahamstown society since 2002, this student favourite has had to go through a number of facelifts to get to where it is today.
The restaurant started as Evolution, developed to Revolutions and has now evolved to Revelations under the new owner Lee-Ann Benson.
Benson has 20 years of experience in the hotel management business and uses the knowledge she has gained from these years to make Revelations the success that it is.
“Your first year is always your hardest. It hasn’t been easy – but you have to persevere and do the best you can,” says Benson.
With her staff as a support structure, Benson has worked hard to make Revelations a town favourite. “What makes a business is the staff.
You need a good team behind you to make it,” she says.
She strongly believes that the relationship she has with her staff is what has brought Revelations to where it is.
Benson and her team have implemented a number of changes to Revelations over the years.
Not only does the restaurant have free WiFi and daily breakfast specials, they keep up to date with their customers through Facebook and Twitter.
“We don’t mind if you come here and spend hours,” says Benson.
The restaurant is open from 7am to 9h30pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and closes at 6pm every other day.
Although they are closed on Sunday, the Revelations staff make the restaurant available for private functions, where their diverse cocktail selection and buffet are available for all to enjoy.
Revelations is a coffee shop that caters for all and goes out of its way to make its meals and services affordable for its diverse clientele.
Their daily breakfast special is a particular favourite amongst their customers, and their free parking and convenient location in the Pepper Grove Mall makes the coffee shop a desirable work and study venue.
