Tantyi residents were amazed when the police recovered items stolen from churches at a house in S Street on Sunday. They gathered around the police van shortly after the discovery around 1pm.

Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said police had arrested a man in his 20s after items including toiletry and curtaining, belonging to two churches, had been found.

Africa Faith Mission member Nokuzola Namba confirmed that her church had been broken into and said speakers and microphones were among the items stolen.

Another resident said the Presbyterian Church had also been broken into. Some church members arrived at the scene in a car.
